Thomas
Bologna successfully led the health care divisions of public, Fortune
500 and venture-backed biotechnology companies. A leader in the
osteoporosis market, he was one of the first chief executive officers
(CEOs) to model
‘companion diagnostics’ with a pharmaceutical product.
Mr. Bologna is president and CEO of Orchid Cellmark Inc. (NASDAQ:
ORCH), an international company that provides DNA identity testing
services to the forensic and paternity markets.
Mr. Bologna
served as president and CEO of Quorex Pharmaceuticals Inc., a venture-backed
company purchased by Pfizer Inc.; chairman of the board, president
and CEO of Ostex International Inc., purchased by Inverness Medical
Innovations; and president and CEO of Scriptgen Pharmaceuticals,
a Boston biotechnology start-up.
Mr. Bologna
began his career began as president, CEO and chairman of the board
of Gen-Probe Inc., a leading clinical diagnostics DNA-probe company
that successfully commercialized products for the identification
of infectious diseases. Gen-Probe flourished under his leadership,
and was made public on the NASDAQ before being sold to Chugai Pharmaceutical
Co. Ltd. Mr. Bologna also served as president of Becton Dickinson’s
Diagnostic Systems Division and vice president at the Warner Lambert
Company (now Pfizer).
Charles
Cahn, Chief Executive Officer, Cahn Medical Technologies
Charles
Cahn, head of Cahn Medical Technologies (CMT), invests in and manages
start-up medical technology companies. He serves as board chairman
of TyRx Pharma Inc., a surgical infection control company; board
chairman of MicroMRI Inc., an MRI-based imaging company focused on
osteoporosis assessment; a member of the board of Cylex; and chief
executive officer of Calretex LLC, a wound management company.
As senior
vice president at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., an independent
research and management firm, Mr. Cahn served on the board of directors
and as senior managing director of the group’s research business.
Alliance Capital Management purchased the company in 2000.
Mr. Cahn
serves on the boards of companies invested in by CMT; SCB Inc.,
the advisory board of the Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. Center
on Leadership and Ethics, at the Columbia Business School; and CEI-PEA
(Center for Educational Innovation – Public Education Association).
He chairs the board of the Cahn Fellows Program for Distinguished
New York City Principals at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Mr. Cahn graduated from Washington and Lee University and holds
a masters of business administration from Columbia University.

Hahn, General Partner, Battelle Ventures
Ronald
Hahn invests in and works closely with early-stage businesses. His
current activity, highlighting a three-decade career, focuses on
health care and life science technologies. Mr. Hahn serves as a
member of the board of Cylex, and director of BacTalk LLC, Lotus
Separations LLC and Panomics Inc.
Mr. Hahn
is an adjunct professor of finance at the Columbia Business School.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Occidental College, and
a masters of business administration from the University of California,
Los Angeles.
Tracy
Marshbanks, Ph.D., Managing Director, First Analysis
As managing
director, Dr. Tracy Marshbanks coordinates investment and research
activities in the chemistry-enabled sector. Prior to joining First
Analysis in 1999, he performed economic and strategic analysis of
retail facility placement, acquisition and divestment for Amoco
Corp. There, Dr. Marshbanks refined capital planning and worked
as a research engineer.
Dr. Marshbanks
earned his doctorate in chemical engineering from Purdue University,
a masters of business administration from the University of Chicago,
and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Colorado State
University.
Seth
Rudnick, M.D., General Partner, Canaan Partners
A health
care industry pioneer, Dr. Seth Rudnick founded and led several start-up
companies to success. His comprehensive experience includes research,
development, clinical trial analysis and biotechnology. Rudnick joined
Canaan in 1998, and currently sits on the boards of Adlyfe, Chimerix,
Cylex, Orthocon, Sopherion, Spine Wave and VaxInnate. He served as chief
executive officer and chairman at CytoTherapeutics.
Dr. Rudnick
was co-founder, and served as head of research and development,
for Ortho Biotech, a division of Johnson & Johnson. In that
role, he led development efforts for a portfolio of projects that
continue to generate significant revenues for the company. He began
his industrial career at Schering-Plough, where he ran clinical
trials for the alpha interferon project; he later transferred to
Biogen, managing that company's pharmaceutical development efforts.
Dr. Rudnick
serves on the medical and public health faculty at Chapel Hill,
where he is a clinical professor of medicine and advises faculty
on biotechnology issues.
Carol
Winslow, Founder and Principal, Channel Medical Partners
Carol
Winslow is a veteran of more than 25 years in the medical technology
industry, devoting much of that time to developing expertise in private
and public medical technology investment.
Prior
to founding Channel Medical Partners, she served as senior medical
device analyst – responsible for equity research activities
within the medical technology industry – at Jeffries & Company
Inc., Vector Securities International Inc., and Dain Bosworth Incorporated.
Ms. Winslow held management positions with Medtronic Inc. She serves
on the board of directors of several private medical technology
companies in Channel’s investment portfolio and the non-profit
American Refugee Committee.
Ms. Winslow
received her bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College
and a masters of business administration from the University of
Minnesota.
