About Cylex: Company Timeline

1992-93
Biotechnology Transfer, Inc. is founded (from a $50,000 loan from the Jim Rouse Entrepreneurial Fund in Howard County, MD) with an initial product that was a natural human  interleukin 2 T-cell growth factor used for research - ImmuKnow® (as we now know it) was named “The Luminetics™ Assay for T-Cell Activation”
1995-96
The Company receives a Small Business Innovation Grant (SBIR) from the Department of the Army to develop a test for the efficacy of a Q fever vaccine, which provides the fundamental proof of principle for the ImmuKnow technology in its current form
1997
U.S. patent titled, “Methods for Measurement of Lymphocyte Function” (US 5,773,232) is filed with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office
1997
Dr. Judy Britz is named President and CEO
1998
First financing round opens
1998
U.S. patent titled, “Methods for Measurement of Lymphocyte Function” (US 6,630,316) is filed with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (e.g., the Luminetics Assay)
1998
The Company changes its name to Cylex Incorporated®
2000
Cylex raises $3.6 million in first round financing
2000
FDA meetings begin (about 5 employees) – Define the 510-K path, design a clinical protocol and identify study sites
2001
FDA submission for transplant application

Cylex raises $2 million in interim financing

Cylex adds GMP manufacturing capability
2002
Cylex announces FDA clearance for Immune Cell Function Assay, and the product name changes to ImmuKnow

Second round financing opens

U.S. patents titled, “Method for Monitoring the Immune Response and Predicting Clinical Outcomes in Transplant Recipients” (US 7,476,514 B2, US 7,169,571) are filed with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office
